American Kitsch

American kitsch is a campy, ironic celebration of the most over-saturated symbols of mainstream American consumer culture, treating fast food logos, flags, roadside Americana, and mass-market pop imagery as deliberately lowbrow material. Pop Art's fascination with commercial culture is the root. Flag-print or stars-and-stripes clothing leads. Fast food and soda brand graphic tees follow, alongside denim in every form. Rhinestone eagle embellishments, kitschy souvenir-style accessories, and novelty sneakers complete it, all in red, white, and blue.
