Poolcore emerged in the 2010s as a subgenre of liminal spaces, built on images of pools that read eerie and peaceful at once. The modern reading works in light blue and white. Patterns come from pool tile. Sheer materials carry the surface, alongside swimsuits, with embellishments meant to evoke light reflecting off water.
