Teddy Boys

Teddy Boys was a British youth subculture originating in the early 1950s and revived in the 1970s by people drawn to rock and roll and R&B. Dandy styles of the Edwardian period supplied the references. Drape jackets carry it, cut close to a zoot suit and usually in dark shades with velvet trim. High waist drainpipe trousers cover the bottoms. High-necked, loose-collared white shirts go underneath, with a bolo tie and a brocade waistcoat. Polished oxfords, chunky brogues, or brothel creepers go below.
