Western otome describes a more casual form of Lolita fashion popular internationally, particularly in the West. Jumperskirts carry it, worn without petticoats. Sweaters go over them. Mary janes go below, with frilly socks and other feminine pieces. The name itself came from Japan, coined in response to how much more casual the Western version is.
