Arte Povera

Arte povera is a fashion-adjacent aesthetic rooted in the late 1960s and 70s Italian movement of the same name, whose artists used humble everyday materials, burlap, soil, rope, and raw metal, as media in rejection of consumer culture. In contemporary clothing that becomes raw unfinished hems and natural undyed burlap or canvas. Construction details stay exposed rather than concealed. Accessories are unprocessed leather or raffia. Earth tones come from actual earth pigments, and material honesty is valued over decorative finish.
